Congratulations to the Hidden Creek All-Stars who swam in qualifiers on Saturday.  Special kudos to those who swam in Sunday's finals:

Tiger Barbee
Warren Breiseth
Amanda Broyles
Regan Glembocki
Mason Greenblatt
Ashley Jaegar
Sierra Jeter
Samantha Kelly
Mary Kugler
Grace Nalepka
Michael Ratcliffe
Teagan Smith

These Hurricanes represented Hidden Creek splendidly with strong swims on Sunday.  Hidden Creek took several first-place finishes:  Sierra Jeter (Girls 13-14 50 Meter Freestyle, 50 Meter Butterfly, 100 Meter IM); Teagan Smith (Girls 8 & Under 25 M Backstroke), and Amanda Broyles (Girls 13-14 50 M Backstroke).  Second place finishers were Teagan Smith (Girls 8 & Under 25 M Freestyle), Tiger Barbee (Boys 15-18 50 M Backstroke) and Sofia Augenstein (Girls 8 & Under 25 M Butterfly).  Rounding out the podium with third place finishes were Tiger Barbee (Boys 15-18 50 M Freestyle), Warren Breiseth (Boys 9-10 50 M Backstroke), and Mason Greenblatt (Boys 11-12 50 M Breastroke).

Sierra Jeter was also honored with the Spotswood Trophy, which is awarded every year to the 13-14 girl with the highest point total for the season based on best times, and who swam each individual event at least once.  Sierra earned 46 out of 50 possible points to win the award.

July 23 vs. Springfield Country Club

The Hurricanes won their third straight Division title this past Saturday, despite a last-minute change of venue to Springfield's pool due to technical problems at the Hurricane home pool.  The Springfield Dolphins kindly agreed to hold the meet at their pool, but may have regretted that decision once the Hurricanes posted their 317-199 victory.

Records were broken once again, just as they were in the previous four meets.  The Boys mixed age relay of Warren Breiseth, Ben Barbee, Patrcik McCarthy, and Tiger Barbee broke the club record they had just set a week prior against Riverbend.  Warren Breiseth also set new team records in the Boys 9-10 50 Backstroke and the Boys 9-10 IM.  Tiger Barbee broke his own team records in the Boys 15-18 Backstroke, Butterfly, and IM.

What a fantastic season for the Hurricanes!

July 16 vs. Riverbend Country Club

Hidden Creek paid a visit to their neighbors at Riverbend Country Club for an inter-divisional meet this past Saturday.  Although this meet does not count in the standings, there was plenty of friendly rivalry as swimmers faced off against neighbors, classmates, and teammates from other sports.  There were a number of very tight races and team spirit abounded throughout the meet.

The Hurricanes once again continued to improve on their times, with 7 new individual team records and 4 new relay team records set.

Girls 8 & Under 100 IM (Teagan Smith)

Girls 13-14 50 Breast (Regan Glembocki)

Girls 13-14 50 Fly (Sierra Jeter

Boys 8 & Under 100 IM (Luke Addington)

Boys 11-12 50 Breast (Mason Greenblatt)

Boys 11-12 50 Fly (Mason Greenblatt)

Boys 11-12 100 IM (Mason Greenblatt)

Girls 8 & Under 100 Free Relay (Mary Kugler, Camille Lindley, Kate Entis, Teagan Smith)

Girls 13-14 200 Medley Relay (Amanda Broyles, Regan Glembocki, Sierra Jeter, Amanda Jaegar)

Boys 9-18 200 Free Relay (Warren Breiseth, Ben Barbee, Patrick McCarthy, Tiger Barbee)

Boys 11-12 200 Medley Relay (Steven Ratcliffe, Mason Greenblatt, Ben Barbee, William Glembocki)

The final meet of the season pits two undefeated teams against each other, when Hidden Creek hosts Springfield Country Club and defends its back-to-back divisional titles.

July 9 vs. Mount Vernon Yacht Club

The havoc wrought by Hurricane Hidden Creek continued over Mount Vernon Yacht Club, which had the unfortunate luck to be on the losing side of a 357-110 tally on Saturday's swim meet.  Showcasing their depth, the Hurricanes notched the victory despite missing several swimmers, with many athletes swimming up in age groups, or swimming new events.

Luke Addington, who leads the league in three 8 & under events, continued his assault on the record books, smashing the Hidden Creek record for 8 & under butterfly.  Warren Breiseth lowered his own backstroke record for 9-10 boys, having just set the old record at Hidden Creek's last meet.

The Hurricanes gear up for a non-divisional meet against Riverbend Country Club next week.  This neighborhood matchup is always a friendly rivalry, with swimmers from the two teams often attending the same schools or playing on the same team in other sports.  The Hurricanes look forward to seeing their friends on July 16!

June 25 vs. Mount Vernon Country Club

Hurricane Hidden Creek took a southward path and cut a swath through Mount Vernon Country Club's pool with a 315-200 victory.

The ink was barely dry in the Hidden Creek records after last week's 8 record-breaking swims, but Hurricane swimmers nevertheless set 9 new team records.  Tiger Barbee broke his own team records in the 15-18 Boys Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Individual Medley.  Not to be outdone, Mason Greenblatt also broke his own records, in the 11-12 Boys Breaststroke and Individual Medley events.  Warren Breiseth set a team record in the 9-10 Boys Backstroke, and Luke Addington set one in the 8 * Under Boys Breastroke.  Regan Glembocki followed her record-setting performance in the 13-14 Girls Breastroke with another one this week, also breaking her own record.

Finally, although the win was a total team effort, special note must be made of Grace Nalepka's  impressive individual performance. 11 year old Grace not only swam up to the 15-18 age group for the IM  race, but won it!

The Hurricanes take a weekend off to celebrate the 4th of July, but will be back in full force for the meet against Mount Vernon Yacht Club on July 9.

 June 18 vs. Evergreen

Hurricane season started off in convincing fashion as Hidden Creek Country Club blew past Evergreen Country Club by a score of 394-121.  The Hurricanes set the tone early on, sweeping the first two events of the meet.  The torrid swims continued all morning long, with 8 new team records established.  Records were set in the following events:

Boys 8 & Under Breastroke (Luke Addington)

Boys 11-12 Breastroke (Mason Greenblatt)

Boys 11-12 Butterfly (Mason Greenblatt)

Boys 11-12 Individual Medley (Mason Greenblatt)

Girls 13-14 50 Breast (Regan Glembocki)
