Meet 5:  Back to Back Championships for the Hurricanes

The import of Saturday's meet was evident on the Hurricanes' faces as they prepped themselves for the final challenge of the season.  With a second straight divisional championship, Hidden Creek churned out races as blisteringly hot as the weather and prevailed over Evergreen Hidden Creek 349-153.

The Hurricanes donned their war paint and took another step towards defending their division championship by beating Springfield Golf and Country Club by a score of 287-229.  The two teams were neck and neck going into the relays with several races ending in a photo finish as Hidden Creek relied on their depth to seal the win in the second half of the meet.

Meet 3:  July 10 vs. Mount Vernon Country Club - Hurricanes are in their Element

Wet and cool weather didn't dampen the Hurricanes' spirit as they continued their quest to defend their division title.  Armed with towels, canopies, and assorted rain gear, swimmers took to the pool and gave it their all.  The less than ideal conditions didn't stop many swimmers from posting personal bests.

Luke Addington (7) and Anthony Barbee (15), representing the far ends of the age group spectrum, turned in impressive performances by winning all four of their individual races.  Sierra Jeter (13) continued to impress, winning every one of her individual races except for the 50 Breast, which was taken by teammate Regan Glembocki (13).

Team depth was on display, particularly for the Boys 9-10 age group, which swept their races in the 50 Free, 50 Back, and 100 IM.  The 13-14 Girls also showed their strength by sweeping the 50 Breast event.

The Hurricanes swim their way to victory

Week 2 saw the Hurricanes post their first division win, a 385-126 victory over host Mount Vernon Yacht Club.  Unlike last year's meet against MVYC, which was shortened by rain, the sun shone hot and bright as the two teams raced against each other with the picturesque Potomac River in the background.
