Rain Rain Go Away!
After numerous rain delays, the first meet of the season was cut short Saturday, June 20, 2009, due to severe storms. North Chevy Chase was in the lead at the half when the meet was re-scheduled to Monday, June 22, 2009. Unfortunatly, several swimmers were unavailable to compete on Monday due to prior commitments, causing our first loss of the season : NCC 389 - A 372.
Ashton had some great swims on both days of the meet: *Kieran Broder, Joesph Bunke, *Helen Marie -Castelli, *Katherine Cleary, *Liam Cleary, *Annmarie Hawley, Maddi Kalen, *Sarah Levendusky, Griffith Potts, Joanna, Purich, Michelle Saheb, Weston Sirk, *Spencer Sterling, & Ciara Willett all placed first in one or more event. (* denotes All-Star time achieved in one or more event)
A 23 year old team record was broken Saturday by Spencer Sterling! Brian Nicosia held the 15-18 100M Freestyle Record of 56.80 back in 1986. The new record is 56.53.
Coach Chuck Webb was pleased with the team despite the loss (and being sick) - "All of our swimmers lowered their freestyle times. I see bigger and better swims in the future for the Alligators - GO GATORS!"
