James Creek Meet Completed Monday, June 22

Thunderstorms forced forced us to postpone the second half of our meet with James Creek on Saturday, June 20th.  We have rescheduled the second half for Monday, June 22nd at 6:30 pm.  Per MCSL competition rules on postponed meets, both  rosters and all entries as submitted are still in effect.  The meet was conducted as if there were no interruption.

The final result- FO 461.5 JC 291.5

Some highlights of the meet were multiple All Star times by FO swimmers!  Olivia Amitay garnered three AS times - 19.40 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Butterfly - also a pool and team record, not to mention 2nd OVERALL in the county. Not bad for an "M" division swimmer!  Congratulations, Olivia!) 24.50 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Breaststroke (3rd overall in MCSL), 22.32 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Backstroke (1st overall in MCSL).  Not bad for an "M" division swimmer!  Congratulations, Olivia!  Also getting AS times - Andy Holmes, 29.06 15-18 50 SC M Butterfly and Katie Ross, 33.84 13-14 50 SC M Butterfly.

Congratulations to our All-Stars and to the rest of the Seahawks on starting the 2009 season on a winning note with a great team victory!  Thanks also to James Creek for coming to our pool (for the very first time as far as we can tell) and swimming so hard and enthusiastically.  We look forward to seeing them all again the the Relay Carnival this weekend and at Divisionals in July.

Seahawks to Host Long Branch Saturday, June 27

This week finds the The 'Hawks hosting the Long Branch Gators on Saturday, June 27th, 2009.  The Seahawks expect a tough fight from the Gators, who are fresh off a 428 - 288 season opening win over the East Gate Gators. The meet starts at 9:00.  FO will warmup 8:00 - 8:20, followed by LB from 8:20 - 8:40.  Come on out and give vocal support to our swimmers, who have been working so very hard this spring!

Well, the Long Weekend is Over!!

Well, the Seahawks had a busy and productive weekend!!  Starting on Saturday, the swimmers lined up against Long Branch, another tough divisional opponent.  In a hotly contested matchup, with the lead seesawing back and forth, LB won the last two relays (events 49 and 50), but came up just short, as the Seahawks came away with a 405-367 win.  The halftime score was 208-203, with both teams really giving their all.

On Sunday, Kemp Mill played the gracious host to Division "M" for the Relay Carnival.  A tip of the hat to Mary Crawley and her crew for doing her usual outstanding job of meet management - the meet ran like a fine Swiss watch!  Mary, please don't retire!!!  In the water, the Seahawks got off to a fast start, with wins in Event 1 - Boys 175M Graduated Freestyle, and Event 3 - Mixed 15-18  200M Freestyle, and never looked back.  The Seahawks ended up with 9 Firsts and 7 Seconds out of the 22 events on the schedule.  The swimmers were just outstanding and showed great sportsmanship.  The Carnival is a fun meet for all the teams, are we were very happy to be participating.  Final scores:  FO - 234, WW - 156, JC - 144, LB - 140, EG - 120, KM - 82.
