Hurricanes Are 3 for 3 at All-Star Relay Carnival
Hallowell placed 3 relay teams in this year's All-Star Relay Carnival and came away with 3 first place finishes. The Boys Open Age 200 meter Medley of Brady Fox (back), Matt Lee (breast), Eric Conrad (fly) and Michael Anderson (free); Mixed 15-18 200meter Free Relay Team of Eric, Katie Murray, Blair Webb & Brady, and the Mixed 15-18 200meter Medley Team of Brady(back), Matt (breast), Katie (fly) and Blair (free) all swam their way to first place, closing out a very successful season for our senior swimmers. Congrats to all!
Week 4 Hurricanes Can't Outswim the Barracudas
Despite losing to Bethesda, 413-379, the Hallowell Hurricanes had plenty to cheer for in Week 4. The Hurricanes 15-18 Boys rewrote Bethesda's Pool Record board, setting new marks in all 5 events -- 100 breast (Matt Lee) and 100 free, 100 back, 100 IM and 50 fly (Brady Fox) -- while also taking first and second in the boys open age medley event. Hallowell's 13-14 boys (Brandon Loiacono, Sean McCleary, Thomas Lee, Nicholas Breen and Peter Bardach) nearly completed a perfect sweep of all events, relinguishing just 1 third place finish to Bethesda. Other strong performers for Hallowell included Blair Webb (15-18), Anna Kolanowski (3 firsts and 1 second for 13-14 girls), and tremendous time drops by 8 and unders Drew Munson, Shant Diarbi, Steven Nicklow, Chris Morris, Anna Howell and Ava Stephenson.
Hallowell closes out its dual meet season next week in its final home meet against Upper County, when Hallowell celebrates its 2009 graduating class -- Brady Fox, Conner Gorman, Katie Murray, Frank Suthard and Blair Webb, along with returning graduates DJ Carswell & Shannon Krehbiel.
Week 1 Hallowell Loses a Close One to Neighboring Mill Creek, 401-391
Though up by 2 going into the final two events of the morning, the Hurricanes could not overcome the Marlins graduated freestyle relays and lost by 10 to the Marlins of Mill Creek Towne. Congrats to Hallowell's 4-event winners: Blair Webb, girls 15-18 100 meter free, back, breast & IM and Brandon Loioacono, boys 13-14 50 free, back, fly & 100 IM. Also to new team record holders Anna Kolanowski (girls 13-14 100IM) and Sean McCleary (boys 13-14 50 breast).
