Lionfish End Regular Season Poised to be Next Year's Powerhouse
The Lakelands Lionfish are having other teams in their division looking over their shoulders.
A young team, this year's Lionfish started each meet with a 92-point deficit due to a lack of 15/18 year-old swimmers. That meant the team relied on a strong group of swim-up competitors to fill the gaps. These role models for their teammates went against much older competitors and showed determination and dedication to swim where they were needed. The Lionfish dropped each of their dual match-ups by just over 100 points.
Hoffman noted one of the highlights of the Lionfish season was placing third out of six teams in the A relays and qualifying three relays to All Star times.
Lionfish All Star times were turned in by Maddie Durmowicz, Lindsey Goldstein, Maddy Zarchin, Brandon Goldstein, Jacob Linder and Alex Myers.
The youngest of the Lionfish participated in the Westleigh mini meet on July 19 showing the awesome future for the team. Lakelands swimmers posted personal best records and had a great time as they dressed for the dog-pound themed mini meet.
