Sharx Take a Bite out of Alligators in Home Opener

The Sharx endured a 56-hour rain delay and edged out Ashton 389-372 in a meet that will surely be remembered for some lightening fast swimming.  Three NCC records were broken, two of which were decades old.  Sara Durbin turned on the afterburners 10 yards from the wall to break Donna Goldbloom's 39 year-old pool record in the Girls 8 & U 25 Free by .01 with a time of 17.49.  A few minutes later Robert Spencer made it look easy breaking the team record in the Boys 15-18 100 Free with a time of 53.88.  In the final event of Monday night's conclusion to the meet, the Girl's 175M graduated relay, the NCC girls (Ann Hogan, Bella Martin, Eleanor Neal, and Sara Durbin) set a new team record with a time of 2:04.37

Other notable events:  Emily Williams, Ann Hogan, and Erin Morris finished 1-2-3 in the Girls 13-14 50 Back. Caroline Hersman, Adrienne Fine, and Kate Strong finished 1-2-3 in the Girls 8 & U 25 Breast.  T-Bone Durbin, Zach Gan, and Nate Olsen finished 1-2-3 in the Boys 11-12 50 Fly.

Next up:  Wednesday night at Seven Locks and Saturday morning at home against Carderock Springs.  The Sharx and Cudas last met in 2007 with the Sharx squeaking out a victory by just 9 points.

Sara Durbin also broke the 8 & U 25 Fly team record with a time of 20.27, previously held by current 15-18 swimmer Emily O'Connor. Only .05 to go until she grabs the pool record in this event as well!
