- 1. At the F Divisionals, kids ages 8 to 18 walked around the pool deck on a brisk summer morning. The temperature at Glenwood Swim Club was holding at about 58 degrees, and slender 8 and unders ran around sporting division F shirts inscribed as "Freakin Fast".
- 2. As the last warm up session ended, a nervous Christopher Kincaid and Travis Bauer stepped up for the Men 12 and under 100 meter IM, Championship heat. Both Kincaid and Bauer held their own in the first 25 meters, but the competition slowly started drifting away from the two teammates. Although a slow start the two Robin Hooders charged for the last 50, Bauer edging Old Georgetown's Evan Connoly by 1 ms. The next RH swimmer up to the plate was Bethany Hamson, who, as well as the two boys, had a slow first 50 meters, but ended out passing 3 opposing swimmers two end up 3rd overall.
- 3. Skipping to the Boys 8 and under 25 meter freestlye, Donlan Dailey was looking to improve an already fantastic best time. 17 seconds later, Donlan's goal was completed. Onto girls 13-14 50 meter backstroke, where Emily Lathrop and Stephanie Kincaid swam blistering Championship heats to go one-two, Lathrop barley edging Kincaid and both under the RH team record. Patrick Mukri, coming off of a fantastic 100 meter IM swim, swam a respectable time in the 100 meter backstroke and kept his place in the championship heat. Then came the halftime, with people crowding the pool to relieve any jitters still remaining. So many people crowded the pool that many had to warm up in the shallow end of the pool. Finally, after a stressful first half, the breaststroke portion of the meet was upon us.
- 4. In the 9-10 25 meter breastroke, Griffin Nowasky swam a blistering heat to sneak up a couple of places in a deep breastroke pool. Then came the 11-12 boys and girls 50 meter breastroke in which Bethany Hampson, Brendan Lindsay and Travis Bauer all went under the All-Star standard. In the 15-18 Men breastroke Eric Davis had an excellent race and finished second overall. In the next event, Tina Sasser swam dove into her last race ever as an RHer. A throng from the RH team area raced from side to side, screaming their lungs out, forcing her to go a best time for her last race. Soon after this followed the 9-10 girls 25 meter butterfly, in which Keira Lindsay and Cate Kincaid destroyed the competition to sneak up many places into the top 3 overall. Onto 11-12 50 meter butterfly, in which Bethany Hamson again blazed to another oersonal best, and for the boys, Christopher Kincaid finally got the All Star standard in 35.57 seconds. Then stepped up the boys 13-14 50 meter butterfly in which Cory Camp edged out Glenwoods own Jack foster by a couple tenths, destroying his old personal best. In 15-18 fly, Patrick Mukri came in even with the field, while Julia Hondros had another fantastic swim, coming in second overall. The deciding factor in the meet however, were events 49 and 50, boys and girls graduated 175 meter freestyle relay. For the boys, after a long delay, waiting for a takeoff judge, John Lathrop blazed out a good starting 50 and was under RH record pace, Travis Bauer dove in, falling off the pace by a couple tenths, same with Cory Camp coming after. Though a valiant effort by Donlan Dailey, the RH record held up by only 20 ms. The girls were up, in a sister sister heat, with Cate Kincaid leading off for RH, and Stephanie swimming the 13-14 leg. Cate dove in and hung tough with the field, and came to the wall even with first place in sight. Bethany Hamson understandably fell off the pace with a very tough 11-12 field, but still finished a respectable 4th for her leg, after which the second Kincaid of the relay dove in. Stephanie tore it up , coming in dead even with the 3rd place relay, when the top 8 and under, Callie Collins took off. She again blazed by and finished the relay in 3rd place! After a nerve-racking 20 minute wait, the final scores were announced with RH finishing 3rd (we seem to be finishing 3rd a lot in this meet, dont we?). After the stressful meet, the team met at Sol d' Italia for lunch. GREAT SEASON RH CANT WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!
