The Fort Washington Swim Team (Sharks)
With the leadership of Mrs. Anne Shoch and other parents, we've been a proud member of the Prince-Mont Swim League since 1972 and the Sharks have established a tradition of competitive excellence and doing their best that continues today. There have been many very talented swimmers from Fort Washington, MD over the years, but the most famous Shark is Mark Henderson who, among his many accomp;lishments, won a gold medal and set a world record at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Our Sharks are a fun loving bunch and have many social events beyond competing in swim meets. Additionally, our Guppy program teaches the youngest of children the skills needed to become a racing member of the team. Bring us your babies and we'll turn them into smiling yet ferocious Sharks for you. For more information go to www.FWSharks.com or call (301) 292-6260.
June 18, 2011,
The Sharks opened the 2011 PMSL season with a nail bitter against Smallwood Village Aquatic Center's Marlins. Though the Marlins led the Sharks for almost the entire meet, the Sharks should their tenacity and competitive spirit by refusing to let them get too far ahead and rallied to even the score in event 48, which led to a very dramatic Girls 200m Relay for the ultimate win 289 to 286. Every swimmer and fan present was on their feet cheering like crazy. It was a fantastic start for a promising 2011 Shark season.
