BOYS SET PMSL RECORD AT ALL STARS

Dematha Quad sets PMSL record
Record Setting Medley Relay Boys.

July 30, 2011 Whitehall Pool, Bowie, MD.... The "Dematha Quad" of Danny Sheerin, Patrick Sheerin, Trevor Irish and Mike Dunn won the very first event at the PrinceMont All Stars today, setting a NCR team AWAY record, but most importantly, set a new PRINCEMONT record with a time of 1:57.15. Previous record was set this year by BBT (an "A" Division team), which came in a distant second place.

Get Out the Eraser...Records Fall!

The record books for away meets will have to be rewritten also. Trevor Irish not only came in first in all three of his individual events (Fly - 27.27; Free - 54.31; Back - 29.62) but he also set three AWAY meet records for NCR, the oldest of which was Nick Johnson's Fly record dating back to 1987 (before Trevor was born). He also erased David Gold's Free and Back records from 1999. Not a bad day at the office for the Irish Setter.

Danny Sheerin also broke the back record coming in only .08 behind Irish in a very, very close race. Danny, swimming in his very last meet for NCR, set a new record for the 100 IM in his very last event, eclipsing David Gold's 1998 record in 1:04.70. Thanks for everything you gave us, Danny. Fabulous end to your NCR career!

Last but not least, Danny's brother, Patrick Sheerin, also set a record while coming in 4th in the 50 Breast (34.08) shattering G.R.Stewart's 2002 record in the process. All around nice day for the Sheerin boys.

The NCR Dolphins finished 5th out of 6 teams at the Divisionals meet on Saturday, July 23rd, and probably will be going down at least one Division in Princemont next year. But for the 15-18 Boys, and Nate Donoghue (11-12), this meet was record setting and productive.

The meet started with the Boys 200 Meter Medley Relay, which was won by the "Dematha" quartet of Danny Sheerin, Patrick Sheerin, Trevor Irish and Billy Dunn, slicing 4 seconds off the old pool and team records. But the boys were just beginning.

Nate Donoghue won the 11-12 50M Fly, then Trevor Irish recorded his first win of a triple win day with his 15-28 50M Fly (29.13). Patrick Sheerin came in second in the same race, providing a one-two punch for the boys that would continue for most of the meet.

Nate then came back with a second place finish in his 50M Freestyle, while Trevor finished 1st in the 100M Free (56.85), followed closely by Danny Sheerin in second place. In the 15-18 50M Breaststroke, Patrick Sheerin, in lane two, came out of nowhere to zoom past his higher seeded competition to set a new team Home meet record (35.03) and take first place in a truly fabulous race.

Trevor completed his triple by zipping to a new team record 30.87 in the 50M Back, but Danny Sheerin made it very, very close, being out touched by .20 and taking second place. A memorable race between two good swimmers. The Individual Medley, Danny Sheerin outpaced the field to record his first place finish in his last HOME swim meet, followed by his brother, Patrick, who came in third place. We're proud of you Danny. Thanks for the great times!
