The Takoma Aquatic Center is the home of the Takoma Park DC All Stars. We are a competitive summer swim team. The team is one of the founding members of the Prince-Mont Swim League. Teams from Washington DC, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Anna Arundel County, and Charles County make up the Prince Mont Swim League.
We welcome swimmers who are able to swim at least one length of the pool and are between the ages of 5 and 18 years. Our team is coached by Rob Green, Jr. and supported by coaches Treadwell and Yarbrough. The day to day operations during the team's summer swim season is lead by the Executive Committee, supported by the TPDC Booster Club and the Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division.

DC SWIM TEAM DOMINATES LEAGUE

The Takoma Park Swim Team located in Northwest DC are the champions in Division A for the second consecutive year in the Prince-Mont Swim League comprised of teams from Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia. Under head coach Robert Green the District swim club defeated Theresa Banks to remain undefeated for the second consecutive year. Takoma also won the title in 2007.
Takoma Park features a large contingent of swimmers that participates in USA Swimming the year around program which is located in all 50 states. “ We have upwards of 125 kids that participate in our summer program.” said Takoma head coach Robert Green. “ We also have 50-60 swimmers that swim for DC Wave the District of Columbia’s Recreation swim team that is a member of USA Swimming.”
The coaching staff’s hard work was on display at the annual All-Star meet at Whitehall Swim club in Bowie. “ Its about teaching the kid’s that start in the eight and under age group, that’s where I get my rewards.” Said head coach Robert Green. “ To see the maturation of the swimmers is very rewarding.” Said the head coach. “ We use our summer program as a feeding system for our USA Swimming program.” USA Swimming has played a huge success in our program.
The All Star meet featured the top 18 swimmers in each age group starting with the eight and unders up to the 15-18 age bracket. The five events swum are freestyle, butterfly, back, breast, and individual medley which is a combination of all the strokes. Each swimmer is allowed to swim three individual events and a relay.
Takoma featured three swimmers that were triple winners in their individual events. In boys 15-18 age group Joshua Tomplin won the 50 meter short course butterfly (26.75), the 100 free (53.18), and the 100 IM (59.95). In the boys 13-14 age bracket Jared Miller captured the 50 free (26.38), 50 back (29.67), and the 100 IM (105.99).
In the girls competition Amina Wilson in the girls 15-18 age group won the 100 free, (1.01.77), 50 back (32.13), and the 100 IM (1.10.10).
Adam Todd was a double winner in the boys 11-12 age group victorious in the 50 free (29.10) and the 50 back (33.07). Jaylyn Robinsom completed the gold medal winning contingent with a victory in the girls 13-14 50 fly w3ith a time of 31.59.
Other swimmers that scored in the meet were Shelby Ball in the girls eight and under age bracket,with a 8th place finish in the 25 free (18.90) and 6th in the 25 breast (25.52) and Marakah Dennis finished 12th in the 25 back (24.96). The boys were well represented in the 9-10 age bracket. Jon Bendana finished 2nd in all three of his events, 25 fly, (16.60), 50 free, (32.55), and 25 back (18.90). Kevin Young finished 2nd in the 25 breast, (20.31), 3rd in the 25 fly (17.55), and 3rd in the 50 free (33.67).
In the boys 11-12 age group Sidney Horton finished 8th in the 50 fly (36.85), and 4th in the 100 IM (1.20.52). In the girls 11-12 group Shakeelah Jordan finished 8th in the 50 fly (35.38) and 12th in the 50 free (33.00). In the boys 13-14 age group Marques Ross finished with an 9th finish in the 50 fly (32.82) and 9th in the 50 breast (38.28). In the girls 13-14 age group Jayln Robinson finished 5th in the 50 free (30.19), and 2nd in the 50 back (33.42). Maya Dunbar finished her afternoon 14th in the 50 fly (37.78), 8th in the 50 free (31.28), and 9th in the 100 IM (1.20.88)
In the senior division 15-18 Nandi Ross finished 13th in the 50 fly (35.28) and 11th in the 50 breast (40.83).
In the meets finale Takoma Parks ladies won the mixed 200 yard freestyle relay composed of a swimmer in the 9-10,11-12,13-14, and 15-18 age group. Callie Mills, Shakeelah Jordan, Jalyn Robinson and Amina Wilson captured gold with a winning time of 2.04.45.
In the boys relay Takoma’s contingent of Jon Bendana, Adam Todd, Jared Miller, and Joshua Tomlin set a new league record with a time of 1.51.06. This contingent had broken the old Prince Mont record set by Takoma Park in 1992 which featured one of the coaches Crosby Treadwell. “ It was tremendous when we broke the old record, it was extremely satisfying and one of our coaches (Treadwell) worked very hard with our swimmers on their starts and turns.” Said head coach Robert Green. “ It was a very satisfying year.”

Sights and Sounds from the last meet of the 2010 season as our Graduated Boys and Girls relay teams captured 1st place finishes in each relay. The boys finished in a league record time while the girls had a come from behind victory!!
